Behind the Design: Why Our Weekly Review Template Has Only 5 Questions

The thought process behind a minimalist review system that actually gets you to reflect, not just check boxes.

Most productivity templates treat weekly reviews like a chore: dozens of prompts, trackers, and metrics. But if you're a solopreneur, you don't need another list. You need a moment to breathe.

Our weekly review template started with a simple observation: people either skip long reviews or rush through them. So we cut everything except five questions: What went well? What felt hard? What did I learn? What's one thing to stop? What's one thing to start?

Each question is a text field — no ratings, no dropdowns. The goal is reflection, not data entry. We tested it with five freelancers, and all of them said they actually looked forward to Friday afternoons. The template is deliberately sparse, leaving room for messy, honest answers.
